About Inpatient Behavioral Health

Our behavioral health experts prioritize care and empathy, ensuring patients feel supported and understood throughout treatment. By collaborating closely with other health care providers, we strive to deliver comprehensive care that enhances both mind and mood – integral components of health and wellness.

The services we provide encompass a holistic approach to healing, recognizing that recovery requires a multifaceted approach. Most of our work (psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and medication management) is done in the inpatient setting of the 11-bed acute care unit at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Mental Health Disorders We Address

• Bipolar disorder
• Major depression and anxiety disorders
• PTSD
• Schizophrenia
• Substance use disorders*

*While not a detox center, we address substance issues that contribute to mental health challenges

Integrated Treatment Program

Beyond medication management for conditions such as bipolar disorder and PTSD, we offer an integrated treatment program that includes:

• Peer support to foster shared experiences and empathy
• Occupational therapy to develop daily living skills
• Educational sessions to empower patients with knowledge about their conditions
• Access to community resources through social work support
• Improved nutrition plans tailored to individual health needs
• Recreation therapy to enhance emotional and physical well-being
• Comprehensive discharge planning
• Outpatient behavioral health / partial hospitalization program

Outpatient Psychiatric Services

Limited outpatient psychiatric services are available by referral as part of our 6-to-8-patient partial hospitalization program. These include:

• Group learning sessions
• Counseling/cognitive behavioral therapy
• Occupational therapy
