Narrative Biography

About Me
I was born and raised in a suburb outside of Chicago. I earned my physician assistant degree at Barry University in Miami and practiced in Chicago and New York City before moving to Hawaii. I relocated here seeking a lifestyle change, both personally and professionally. My growing family was a significant factor in my decision to move to Maui — my husband and I greatly value the sense of ohana on the island and believe it’s an ideal place to raise children.

About My Practice
I’ve always felt that there could be nothing more fulfilling than to save the life of another person, to provide a healing touch to someone who’s ill, and to give emotional support to patients and their loved ones during difficult times. Being a physician assistant has allowed me to do all of this.

Cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery are high-impact, fast-paced, cutting-edge specialties that require a team approach. It’s extremely rewarding to care for these critically ill patients, and I feel that I thrive in this type of practice.

To stay up-to-date in medicine, I attend continuing medical education conferences and read online journals. I also enjoy ongoing learning through discussions with my colleagues.

Historically, Maui has had a significant need for improved medical care, and I embraced the challenge of practicing in a community where subspecialties were beginning to expand and provide much-needed services to the people of Maui. I was especially drawn to this lovely community because of the gratitude shown by the people of Maui to their providers.

I decided to join Pacific Permanente Group because I believe that being part of a cohesive group of well-trained, committed physicians will allow me to deliver the highest quality of care to my patients.

As a physician assistant, I’m privileged to care for people when they are most in need. I believe that spending ample time and listening are key elements of quality care. Getting to know my patients and their family members beyond their medical issues allows me to provide emotional support, which can be as important to healing as the physical work that providers do. Every patient deserves to be treated with respect and compassion. Medical providers should continually strive, through education and personal development, to provide holistic and quality care for their patients.

How I Thrive
To stay fit, I eat well and exercise whenever possible. I spend most of my free time with my family, usually at one of our beautiful Maui beaches, parks, or hiking trails – or at our kids’ sporting events. My husband and I also enjoy cooking, entertaining, golfing, surfing, and traveling.
