Narrative Biography
About Me
Growing up in Florida, I’ve always loved being close to the water. After I completed my medical training, the Pacific became my ocean home, and Hawaii was a natural fit for me.
I did my undergraduate studies at Florida State University and received my medical degree from Vanderbilt University. I completed an internship in general surgery at Oregon Health and Sciences University, a residency in anesthesiology at Virginia Mason Medical Center, and a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Washington. I’m certified in anesthesiology and critical care. In addition, I’m a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
When I was a child, my family couldn’t afford health insurance, so we sought care only in an emergency or a crisis. This experience made me appreciate the value of preventive care and taught me to have empathy and respect for people from all walks of life.

About My Practice
Since kindergarten, I’ve known that I want to help others directly. While many professions provide this opportunity, I decided to become a doctor. It certainly helped that I loved math and science.
In medical school, I gravitated toward specialties where I would directly and immediately improve a patient’s condition. Of these, intensive care felt like my place in the hospital. My particular interests are thoracic and esophageal echocardiography, which detects blood clots and other heart disorders, and point-of-care ultrasound.
I’m happy to be part of a team of physicians at Pacific Permanente Group who work together to improve the patient experience at both the individual and organizational levels. To keep my knowledge up-to-date and maintain my certification requirements, I attend virtual and in-person conferences.
I believe in delivering care based on evidence backed by research. My overriding philosophy is to prioritize kindness and empathy.
How I Thrive
I stay fit by surfing, wing foiling, stand-up paddleboarding, kiteboarding, fishing, and boating. I also enjoy spending time with my family, reading, trying to play the ukulele, and traveling.
