Narrative Biography

About Me
I was born and raised in Maryland. My parents and brother still live on the East Coast, and we remain close. I earned my medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and then went to the Emory University School of Medicine for my internship and residency. Back in Maryland I completed my cardiology fellowships at the University of Maryland Medical Center. I’m board certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, and structural heart disease.

About My Practice
Throughout high school I greatly admired my uncle, also an interventional cardiologist, and I was inspired to follow in his footsteps. From the beginning of medical school I loved the practice of cardiology. It’s especially interesting to me because interventional cardiology allows the physician to provide immediate relief and healing to people in some of the most vulnerable situations. My special interests within the field of cardiology include aortic stenosis, valve replacement, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support.

To keep my knowledge of medical research current, I participate in continuing medical education programs and read journals such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Attending conferences provides an even greater depth of exposure to the most up-to-date information in my specialty and in general medicine. It also provides the opportunity to meet and have valuable conversations with national leaders in the field.

While serving in a succession of temporary positions at Pacific Permanente Group, I came to love the island of Maui and believed that I could make a positive contribution to this community. As I developed relationships with others on my team, they became like family to me. These physicians and providers offer excellent cardiology care to their patients, and I feel honored to be included in this fine group of professionals.

It’s my intention to always do what’s right for my patients. In my one-on-one encounters with them—hearing about their personal lives, their families, their beliefs, and concerns—I learn so much that I could never find in a medical textbook.

How I Thrive
Spending quality time with family and friends is one of my greatest pleasures. To stay healthy and relieve stress, I exercise and do something active several times a week. I like going to the beach, biking, and enjoying a variety of ocean sports.
