I completed my internship and residency in internal medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and at Greenwich Hospital/Yale University School of Medicine in Connecticut. I then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, followed by a second fellowship in advanced therapeutic endoscopy at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’m board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

About My Practice
My decision to pursue a career in medicine was partly inspired by the poet and pediatrician William Carlos Williams. His ability to combine the art of language with the care of people spoke to my altruistic side. That inspiration deepened into a true calling as I moved through medical school.
I was especially drawn to gastroenterology because it offers a meaningful balance of patient connection, clinical reasoning, and hands-on procedures. Hearing the stories of patients – and those of the physicians who cared for them – reinforced my commitment to a field that demands precision and compassion.
How I Thrive
After raising six children, my wife and I sought a change that led us to Hawaii, where life feels grounded and inspired.
I’ve always been passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle. I stay active through biking, running, hiking, swimming, surfing, and skiing – all of which help keep me physically strong and mentally balanced. I also enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, and experiencing the rich culture of Maui.
