Narrative Biography
About Me
I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to Vancouver, Canada, with my family when I was 18 years old. I went back to the Philippines to attend Cebu Doctor’s University College of Medicine and then did my residency at JFK Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Program in New Jersey, where I was chief resident.
After residency, I worked in underserved areas of Illinois and had a private practice in Ohio. I ultimately chose Maui to be my permanent home because of its beauty, weather, peaceful atmosphere, and wonderful people. My devoted spouse has always been supportive of my career.

About My Practice
One of the reasons medicine interested me as a profession is that I’ve always been drawn to helping people. Throughout my schooling, I loved science and learning. I chose to specialize in family medicine because it gives me the opportunity to look after patients of all ages, and it trains physicians to treat a wide range of medical conditions. It also allows me to focus on other areas of medicine that interest me, such as emergency medicine.
To keep up with the most current medical research and treatments, I read professional journals, consult online clinical resources, and participate in continuing medical education programs. I also attend medical conferences on the mainland and confer with colleagues within my specialty as well as with providers in other specialty areas.
I was happy to join Pacific Permanente Group (PPG) in order help ensure there would be continuity of care for Kula patients and for those in our community. I also appreciate the resources, processes, and experience PPG offers.
My philosophy of medical care is to always put patients first and to treat every patient like a family member. I strive to listen closely to everything that a patient wants to tell me and do the very best that I can to support that patient’s health and general well-being.
How I Thrive
To stay physically and mentally healthy, I do Zumba a few times a week, eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, and set aside quality time for my family. I also enjoy gardening in my backyard and meeting up with friends, whether to eat out, see a movie, or just relax on the beach and talk story.
