Narrative Biography

About Me
I grew up on Maui and have a deep appreciation for the local community’s role in my upbringing. After graduating from H.P. Baldwin High School as a three-sport athlete, I attended Brown University. At Brown, I played varsity baseball, completed a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, and earned my Doctor of Medicine.

After medical school, I completed my surgical internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Stanford University. There, I served as chief resident and trained under recognized leaders of each orthopaedic subspecialty. It was here where I also met my future wife.

I then went to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York for a fellowship in sports medicine, which included training in advanced minimally invasive procedures of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip. After completing fellowship training, I moved to the Bay Area to start my clinical practice before returning home to Maui a few years later.

Back on the Valley Isle, I now have the privilege of serving as head physician for the Maui Interscholastic League and The Sentry tournament for the Stanford Cardinal, the New York Mets, and the Golden State Warriors.

About My Practice
I’m board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine and am a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Western Orthopaedic Association, and the Hawaii Orthopaedic Association.
I’ve presented my research at national and international meetings and authored journal articles and textbook chapters.

My journey in sports has fueled my passion to help patients return to their lifestyles after injury, regardless of activity level or age

My interests include the treatment of ligament and tendon injuries, cartilage restoration, fracture care, and evidence-based use of orthobiologics, which involve using natural substances to treat acute and chronic injuries.

How I Thrive
