Narrative Biography
About Me
I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, where I was the oldest of four children in a family of health care professionals. After high school, I attended the University of Virginia, then Vanderbilt University for medical school. I did my internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University. After this, I attended a cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship at Wake Forest University.
I’m certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology, as well as a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American College of Cardiology. I’m also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
I developed a passion for the ocean growing up in Virginia Beach, where I spent countless hours in and around the water with my friends, family, and dog. My wife, Jill, an emergency medicine physician whom I met in medical school, shares my love of Hawaii and the outdoors.

About My Practice
My mother was a nurse practitioner, and my father was a cardiologist. I admired their work and ability to improve people’s lives through science and compassion. I’ve always gravitated toward math and science and enjoy problem-solving and organizing. I’m fulfilled by using my knowledge and skills to help others solve their health care concerns and problems.
My professional interests over the last twenty years of practice include structural heart disease, including TAVR and mitral clip procedures; complex coronary interventions, including those that are high-risk; and a wide variety of peripheral vascular interventions. During my cardiology career, I’ve also been involved in numerous clinical trials using new medications and devices.
How I Thrive
I love spending time with my wife, three children, and three dogs. I exercise frequently at the gym and enjoy ocean sports such as surfing, as well as snow sports.
